Ox02d: regeneration of drying columns + 3 l/min 100% oxygen!

This new 2-column setup is getting closer to commercial devices in terms of production rate and size. Again we are only using one timeswitch (4s ON/4s OFF). We are using two drying columns (filled with silica gel) in this setup: The first before the inlet into the control valve and the second one regenerating by connecting it to the dry exhaust coming from the depressurizing zeolite column. To regenerate the first column, we simply switch both drying columns manually. We are using LiX zeolite purchased from Zeochem GmbH

  • Special requirements:
    • 2 Needle check valves + 1 Needle valve
    • Time switch
    • 5/2 directional control valve
  • Feed: 3 bar compressed air

  • Column housing = Reverse Osmosis Membrane housing
  • 250g LiX in each column
  • Valves: Festo, Switching controller: Time switch
  • 100% oxygen in outlet stream (3 l/min) using pressurized air (3 bar) in input.
  • Switching cycle : 4s ON/4s OFF

Additional information

  3. Hi !

    Could You provide more info

    – content material for drying bed ?
    – the need of needle valves ? in the video they are passive ?

    • Hi Jesse,

We used pink silica gel in the drying bed
The two needles in the needle check valve are slightly open to allow back-flow in to the zeolite column, when the other one is producing oxygen. That way, we accumulate oxygen at the end of the two zeolite columns and push back nitrogen. The second needle valve is controlling the output flow from the oxygen tank. I hope it is clear.

    • Zeolite is a very stable inorganic material. However taking up water can reduce the N2 adsorbing effect and therefore water needs to be removed periodically

  4. Is a great result!
Only need 250g per column? what is the dimension of both columns?
    Confirm please.

    • Thank you Cecil. For the zeolite column: Inner diameter about 5cm, outer 6 cm. Length of column 29 cm.

  5. Hello and thank you very much for the information, I would like to know what the technical improvement of this version would be compared to the Ox02: Two Column version, since the difference in flow, concentration, inlet pressure and amount of zeolite used is significant. Thank you and congratulations

    • We have started using drying columns before the zeolite column, that helped a lot! Silica gel or dry zeolite can be used for that purpose.
